Prof.Dr. Adnan Tekin Materials Science and Production Technologies Applied Research Center (ATARC) is an integral part of Istanbul Technical University, one of Turkey's leading research universities. ATARC maintains a strategic relationship with industry and contributes to scientific and technological advancements through education, research, and practical application.

The main objectives of ATARC are as follows

  • Addressing challenges in materials characterization within Turkey.
  • Providing materials characterization services for research projects conducted at Istanbul Technical University.
  • Offering expertise and support to industrial facilities.

ATARC serves as a hub for the development and dissemination of new technologies, processes, and equipment in collaboration with industry, academia, research centers, and public organizations. The center offers a diverse range of technical services and expertise encompassing metallurgy, chemistry, mining, geology, mineral processing, and both destructive and non-destructive evaluation methods.

Spanning over 900 square meters, ATARC houses laboratories, test facilities, workshops, and offices. These facilities include a sample preparation lab, chemical analysis lab, and various characterization equipment such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and micro-hardness measurement instruments. Additionally, the center is equipped with DC magnetron sputtering and radio frequency (RF) thin-film coating (PECVD) systems, as well as various high-temperature furnaces.
